our new mantel addition

how great is my guy? he's awesome. but you already knew that.

he built us this mantel addition just in time for the holiday decorating. after all, who doesn't love a mantel decked out in stockings and garland?!

inspired by something i've seen a few years back from the woman i not-so-secretly long to be (minus the prison term), and some slight lack of communication within the house on what we thought it would initially look like, this is what we have. the piece fits the outline of our mantel perfectly and paul "one-up'd" her by adding felt to the bottom so it doesn't scratch. so take that, martha! it'll be held on by small c-clamps and then they'll be hidden with garland. i plan on using that tin-foily looking garland from the 70s or 80s. i do love that stuff.

i'm joking about the tin-foily garland. i despise it.

and on the snow front- no new inches to add to the tally. we have had flurries the last 3 days though.

Ace Your Face!

ha. i laughed so hard when i finished "Ace-ing our faces! maybe because it's funny actually seeing what we look like walking around here the last few months??? You can Ace yours here. Good times. If you do Ace Your Face, be sure to email it to me.

Ridiculous holiday gift #8

The boyfriend arm pillow.
Sadly, it's backordered. btw, i can barely believe that!

if i walked into someone's home and saw this, i don't know how i'd contain or hide any bit of laughter. and then i'd run and give them a hug. because clearly they are deprived of them. body pillows and squishy pillows-ok (especially if pregnant), boyfriend arm pillows- ghet-to.

hey. maybe i just don't like it because i have my own 6'4" hottie?
Anyway...the boyfriend arm pillow. $19.95 plus shipping.
(apparently, this is a sales success in japan.)
cuddle up.

Snowflake Shaker Card

This is a snowflake shaker card i made to hold the invites to my holiday cookie party. Shake it up and little crystal beads fly everywhere around the snowflake.

You know the party... the one i'm holding here at the house during the holiday season that no one will come to because they'll all be out shopping or telling themselves "i don't want to go to a house where i don't even know the host!" well, that's not true. my mom is coming. thank goodness for moms. i invited all the women on the block because i really haven't gotten to know them since we've been consumed all summer with our house renovations. guess we'll see if anyone wants to come. the invitations were delivered yesterday with a fresh chocolate chip cookie.
